The Fort Wayne Patrolmen's Benevolent Association (PBA) is a professional association, funded by membership dues and citizen contributions. We provide legal, disciplinary and other representation to patrol officers of the Fort Wayne Police Department. Furthermore, we represent these professional law enforcement officers by advocating changes in the police department to improve the quality of work life.
The Fort Wayne Patrolmen's Benevolent Association serves as the collective bargaining association, as well as a benevolent association for Fort Wayne’s patrol officers. Our members are sworn police officers of the City of Fort Wayne Police Department whose rank is Patrol Officer.
As a collective bargaining association (union), our executive committee bargains with the City for our contract, and enforces the provisions of that contract. The union is responsible for ensuring that all of the provisions of the contract are followed, and that no changes are made without our consent; insuring that the patrol officers' rights and interests are protected.
As a benevolent association, we donate money to numerous charitable organizations in an effort to make Fort Wayne a better place to live and work.
We (the board) will continue to place our names and reputations on the line in order to ensure patrol officers throughout Fort Wayne are treated properly under the law.
The current Board has identified six (6) specific items that we believe are and should be at the core of our mission.
They are:
1) To promote a good working relationship with the police and the community we serve.
2) To ensure our membership a safe and hazard free workplace.
3) To negotiate collective bargaining agreements (contracts).
4) To provide for the good and welfare of our membership.
5) To provide guidance and legal representation to our membership.
6) Ensure patrol officers throughout Fort Wayne are treated fairly and properly under the law.
